The better to hear you with, my dear
The fur hoods look great, but I kept thinking mine needed werewolf ears. So I made some!
I used the ear pattern I developed for my neoprene pup mask to make these. The neoprene has two fabric on both faces, unlike the fur, so I started by cutting two of the main ear out of the fur and trimming the fur on the piece for the inner ear.
The outside has the fur at full length, the inside was shaved to 5/8”; both have darts stitched in them to give them some dimensionality.
I cut an insert of smooth-finished neoprene for the “skin” on the inside, and applied it to the inner ear piece, then zigzag-seamed the inner to outer. . An insert cut from a Costco heat-and-serve entree makes it moldable. Finally, the long bottom edge of the ear is folded in to the center and hand stitched in place.
The result is a very effective aural appendage. For these pictures they’re just pinned through the ear into the covered foam of the mask.
Andy decided to make some super simple droopy zombie dog ears and safety-pin them to his fur hood.
