How to Get to Roaring Camp

They Went Thataway! April 25, 1999

(instructions as of April 1999, information may have changed since then)

From San Francisco, take Interstate 280 or U.S. Hwy 101 south to California State Highway 880 (17) in San Jose. Travel south on Hwy 880 (17) towards Santa Cruz. Exit at Scotts Valley onto “Glen Canyon/Mt Hermon Road.” Drive west on Mount Hermon Road 3.5 miles to Graham Hill Road. Roaring Camp is one-half mile ahead on the right.

From Monterey and Southern California, take Hwy 1 north to Santa Cruz, then Hwy 17 north to San Jose. Exit at “Scotts Valley/Big Basin.” Turn left onto Graham Hill Road. Roaring Camp is one-half mile ahead on the right.

Important note: you must get your official train tickets from the organizers (Kevin and Karen) when you arrive at the event to board the train. The souvenir They went Thataway! tickets will not be accepted by the Roaring Camp staff. (We don’t make the rules; we just have to deal with them.)
